I founded Escape Travel in February 2001 in San Francisco out of a lifelong passion for exploring and outdoor travel. With a degree in Resort & Lodging Management (Recreation Administration) from California State University, Chico, I have the skills and training to program fantastic tours and itineraries for fun-filled active vacations here in my own backyard of Northern California! Our family-run business grew in 2003 with the addition of Escape Sacramento Tours; offering fantastic outdoor tours from Sacramento to places like Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Napa, Sonoma, Amador Wine/Gold Country and many others.
It's the people you meet, places you visit and the culture that brings me back time and time again. Each year, hundreds of people join Escape Travel for an active tour or vacation. Many of these people return or refer their friends and family to us. Martin Unversaw bought his first good road bike in San Francisco on sale,  at the end of the Summer of Love, and his first mountain bike from Gary Fisher... personally, out of Gary's garage. In his travels as a television director of photography he has had dinner with Greg Lemond and many lunches with Bob Roll, Phil Liggett and the Tour of California boys. Yes, he has met Lance. They are both cancer survivors. Martin loves to ride, and although he has had the good fortune to have ridden a bicycle on many continents, his favorite rides, whether it be mountain bike or road bike, are here in Northern California.
Anna Woldring A long time competitive cyclist, whose native country is the Netherlands. She started racing at the age of eleven and has competed on a national level. She has also ridden several centuries in the Alps and Dolomites. When she moved to San Francisco she joined a local cycling team and started competing in races across the Bay Area. She also became a certified spinning instructor and teaches indoor cycling classes. Anna has done much exploring since she moved to the USA. Besides riding her Italian bike she enjoys outdoor sports like skiing, hiking and kayaking. She fell in love with California the moment she arrived here and loves to share her passion for the Californian outdoors.
